Dear Family in Christ,
This past Sunday we initiated the Year of the Eucharist. Archbishop Aymond has designated this year to be an opportunity for all Catholics and all people of good will to grow towards a fuller understanding of the holy Eucharist, especially as it focuses on its place in the Mass. For Catholics, the Mass is the greatest prayer of the Church, and all are called to Eucharistic Adoration, or worship of him as the Community of Faith, the Church. In the Eucharist, we all encounter the Risen Jesus and are changed and fashioned in His likeness. When we receive Him in holy Communion, He does not become like us, but we become more and more like Him!
In the months to come, materials will be shared with us electronically, in the parish bulletin and through lectures or opportunities to gather for Christian formation. These items will be prepared for us at the direction of the archbishop to assist us in our spiritual growth. I encourage all of us, our parishioners and friends, to avail ourselves to these graced moments and to grow each day closer into the very image of Jesus.
The Universal Church challenges all Catholics to give good example to each other through Eucharistic devotion and to become missionaries within the domestic Church or within our particular families and to lead all to Jesus.
Together we are strong, and the stronger we become, the holier we become in Christ. May the Year of the Eucharist renew and refresh us now and forever. Amen.
Blessings in the Eucharist,
Very Reverend W.C. Paysse, V.F.
Pastor
